Starting March 1, 2024, all Medicaid transportation for Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) enrollees in New York State will be managed by Medical Answering Services (MAS). This change simplifies booking non-emergency medical transportation, ensuring that you receive the necessary services for your healthcare needs.
Steps to Book Your Trip
1. Create a MAS Account
To get started, create an account with MAS. You can do this online at the MAS website or by calling their customer service team. This account will allow you to book and manage your transportation easily.
2. Schedule Your Trip
- For Urgent or Same-Day Appointments:
If you have an urgent medical need, contact MAS immediately to book transportation for the same day. This ensures you receive timely transport to your appointment. - For Routine Appointments:
Schedule your ride at least three days in advance for routine check-ups or recurring medical visits. This guarantees availability and helps avoid scheduling conflicts. - For Long-Distance Travel:
If your appointment requires traveling a longer distance, submit your request at least seven days in advance.
3. Gather Your Information
When scheduling your trip, have the following details ready:
- Your full name and contact information.
- Your Medicaid ID, if applicable.
- The date and time of your appointment.
- Pickup and drop-off locations.
- Any special needs or assistance required during the trip.
4. Choose 7 Ocean Express as Your Provider
When booking through the MAS portal, make sure to choose 7 Ocean Express as your transportation provider. We are committed to delivering safe, reliable, and comfortable rides to your medical appointments.
5. Book by Phone or Online

6. Modify or Cancel Your Trip
If you need to cancel or reschedule your trip, notify MAS as soon as possible. This helps them adjust their schedule and accommodate other patients in need of transportation.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Prior Authorization:
All transportation services booked through MAS require prior approval. MAS will ensure your trip is authorized by Medicaid based on your medical needs. - No Cost for Medicaid Enrollees:
Transportation arranged through MAS is free for Medicaid enrollees. If you choose to drive yourself, you may be eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses. - Service for All Needs:
MAS works with enrollees, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate transportation for various medical needs, ensuring everyone receives the appropriate service. - Most Cost-Effective Mode Required:
Medicaid requires the use of the most cost-effective transportation mode suitable for your medical needs. If you can use public transit or drive yourself, you may be expected to do so.
